On April 27, 2016 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Alternative Payment Models (APMs) in Medicare Fee-for-Service (CMS-5517-P) Proposed Rule. This Proposed Rule implements the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015 which repealed the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) and mandates significant and historic changes to Medicare physician payment.
