The GAO published a report where it analyzed the net sales and profits of medical device companies pre and post implementation of the PPACA medical device tax.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) included a provision that put a 2.3 percent excise tax on the sale of certain medical devices in the U.S. after December 31, 2012. This report analyzes the net sales and profits of 102 medical device companies prior to and following the implementation of the PPACA tax. Overall, the report found that 102 companies had net sales and profits that increased from 2005 to 2014 though the results varied by company.
