Embedded in CMS’ 1,900+ page IPPS proposed rule is a proposal to implement a mandatory episode-based payment model called the Transforming Episode Accountability (TEAM) Model that would begin in 2026. The IPPS proposed rule goes into detail on all aspects of the TEAM model and CMS is seeking comment on each element. It is important for hospitals to understand how this model would impact them if they were required to participate — and now they have an opportunity to ask CMS questions, provide input and seek changes through their comments.
