Eric Zimmerman said it was significant that Congress is poised to approve a one-year patch to Medicare’s sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula for physician payments, because it extends beyond November’s elections and could lead to a shakeup among the key players on the issue. “If history is any guide, they won’t deal with this until the deadline is looming,” Mr. Zimmerman said. “That makes the future of the whole SGR repeal quite a bit more murky.”
