CMS will host a listening session on Wednesday, January 20 from 2:30-4:00 PM ET on the data collection for global surgery services requirement under Section 523 of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). Beginning on or before January 1, 2017, CMS is required to collect the data needed to value surgical services from a representative sample of physicians. These data must include information on the number and level of medical visits furnished during the global period and on other appropriate items and services related to surgery furnished during the global period.
The listening session will be an opportunity for stakeholders to provide input to CMS on the implementation of this data collection requirement. Registration and other information on the listening session is available here. Space is limited and interested parties are encouraged to register early.
