RFI on improving transparency, flexibility, program simplification and innovation also released
On April 14, 2017 CMS released the proposed rule that would update the Fiscal Year 2018 payment rates and policies under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment System (LTCH PPS). The proposed rule would generally be effective for discharges occurring on or after October 1, 2017.
CMS also released a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit ideas for regulatory, policy, practice and procedural changes to better achieve transparency, flexibility, program simplification and innovation. This will inform the discussion on future regulatory action related to inpatient and long-term hospitals.
CMS will accept comments on the proposed rule and the RFI until June 13, 2017.
