The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updated their MIPS Participation Tool for the 2018 MIPS program. By entering a National Provider Identification (NPI) number, clinicians can determine if they are eligible to participate in the 2018 MIPS program.
To be included in MIPS for the 2018 performance period clinicians need to have billed more than $90,000 in Medicare Part B allowed charges for covered professional services under the physician fee schedule (PFS) AND furnished covered professional services under the PFS to more than 200 Medicare Part B enrolled beneficiaries. This reflects a higher threshold than what was required for the 2017 MIPS program. As a result of this higher threshold, some clinicians who participated in the 2017 program will not be eligible to participate in 2018.
The MIPS Participation Tool is available here.
