Biological Manufacturer Obtains Unique Non-proprietary Name

Distinguishing discrete drugs and biologicals is a critical step to obtaining formulary coverage and appropriate payment.  When a new biological in a class of products was about to enter the market, the established product in the class recognized that its non-proprietary name was not sufficiently descriptive of its unique product.  Our consultants worked with the US Adopted Names Council to develop a non-proprietary naming structure for the class of biological and unique name for the client’s product.  This result helped distinguish and better position the client’s product for reimbursement purposes and in scientific and promotional materials.
